Snakes in my bed!

SSsssssssssSS. Snakes on a Plane was awesome. And by awesome, I mean terrible. And by terrible, I mean it was the best movie ever. Went to the first showing of the craziest, stupidest, funniest, cultish movie tonight. It was extremely interactive. Up came the previews and everyone started shouting - 'snakes on a bus', 'snakes in a barn', snakes.... lots of cheering... throwing snakes (I even caught one!).. At one point, one guy stood up and yelled "I'm blogging this"... and alas, I felt I needed to keep up with this geeky pace and do my own writing. Very geeky Google/Microsoft/Stanford crowd (everyone was under 25)... the only reason all those people were there was because the movie became so dang popular on the internet - blogging, articles, etc. But yeah, seriously: here are the sequels

I don't even miss you 1.7EL (sorry)

I'm cruising in the sweeeeeetest car right now.. an Acura TSX! I had to take my car in for a $700.00US (!!!!!) service so the dealership has been bending over backwards for me (I had to make 3 trips there today).. but I LOOOOOOVE this car. I told them to feel free to dismantle my car or start it on fire - anything to let me keep this car! It's got ALL the coolest features... VOICE commands!!!!!! Built in GPS!!!!!! Built in phone system, satellite radio, moon roof, EVERYTHING!

BUT I was driving home from a friend's house tonight and I got pulled over my a COP!! My heart raced.. he asked the typical cop question "do you know why I pulled you over?" I had NO clue.. he asked if this was my car.. I explained the story that it was a loner.. he said he thought I was drunk because I didn't have my lights on (damn new cars).. However, he suggested that I get a new California driver's license .. I just hope they don't make me get new plates. What a rush...

A WoW-free day..

As usual, I gave into my Sunday morning addiction.. I was so excited this morning that I hardly got any sleep.. I know, this must sound absolutely pathetic but I can't get enough of the farmer's market.. For crying outloud, they have everything from orchids, to fish, to purple vegetables, to fresh baked bread and the cheapest flowers you'll ever find in The Bay.

Then I dragged my not-so-morning person boyfriend to the craziest flea market I've ever seen. They have 2,200 vendors selling all sorts of CRAP.. stolen crap, used crap - seriously I'm surprised these people weren't selling used paper plates!! It was insane all the junk people were trying to sell and EVERY booth seemed the same!! What an experience! We saw one other caucasian couple EVERYONE else was Mexican.. It was exactly how I remembered Tijuana (except California prices). Can't say that's on my list of places to return to but it was nice to get out a bit and watch my shoulders turn into a shade that matches the tomatoes I picked up this morning.

Might be seeing Marie, a friend from back home, tonight! How awesome it would be a tour guide around this place!

Feeling A Little Calgary Sick

So work hired a new Director of Education. They had been looking to fill this position since February and everyone is ecstatic about having her on staff - well everyone but me. I had been taking over most of those responsibilities (at a fraction of the salary) but because I'm too young, I don't have 2 years of experience in the classroom (aside from my practicums) or a credential in this state (didn't pay the $300) I couldn't be formally hired for this position.. So I'm frantically worried my hours will be cut, my jobs will be handed over to her, and I'll be pushed to working evenings and weekends and all that other lovely stuff.. I feel like I've been used. In walks the new DE that everyone is worshiping, and here I have to hand over my desk, my computer, my responsibilities. I don't get it but whatever.
